Laurie Lynn Kimbrell Geerling, 48, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at her home in Wyoming, Michigan.
Laurie was born October 12, 1970 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert Kimbrell and Linda (Sines) Kimbrell. She grew up in the Chicago suburbs of Lombard and Aurora, where her son Joseph was born. In 1996, she moved to Michigan where she worked for various insurance firms. After living a few years in Branson, Missouri, Laurie moved back to Michigan.
Laurie was creative and artistic and always had a project making something beautiful and decorative. She loved to read and in her most recent years loved playing pool. She was a member of two leagues and enjoyed being with her teammates (who called her “Maej”) on league nights.
Laurie was greatly loved by her family, many friends and coworkers who recognized the beautiful soul that she was and loved her warm smile and her ready laugh. Even though she had difficulties in her life, she was always trying to make things better for herself and those around her.
Laurie is preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey, her paternal grandparents, Sterling and Bernice (DuRant) Kimbrell Smith, and her maternal grandparents, Louis and Lois (Johnston) Sines.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Kimbrell and his wife Miranda, of Spring Lake, Michigan, her parents, Robert Kimbrell of Blue Eye, Missouri and Linda Kimbrell of Morrisville, Missouri, her brother David of Morrisville, Missouri and her brother, Michael, of Missouri, and Michael’s son, Jaxson, of Columbia, Missouri.
A casual memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Guest House at 634 Stocking Ave. NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan, where Laurie’s friends can reminisce and enjoy each other’s company in her honor. There is additional parking across the street. Barbecue and beverages will be served, but if guests would like to bring a side dish or dessert, it will be greatly appreciated.
