H. Duane “Dee” Miller, age 94 of Caledonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2019, at American House - Kentwood.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70+ years, Loraine Miller, along with his father, Harold Duane Miller and his mother, Mildred Miller.
As a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, Duane graduated from South High School and attended Michigan State University, graduating in 1950.
Duane served in the United States Navy during WWII, where he was a medic stationed on the Island of Peleliu.
Duane spent his life enjoying quality time with his family and friends. Some of his fondest memories include fishing, traveling, family vacations in Siesta Key and cheering on his MSU Spartan teams. In retirement, Duane spent many days golfing with his buddies and caring for his loving grandchildren and grand-dog, Wilson.
For many years Duane was a member at the Garfield Park Reformed Church, serving as both a deacon and an elder.
Duane enjoyed a career in the electrical business for nearly forty years where he covered Western Michigan before retiring in 1990.
He was a wonderful father and role model for all of us. He will always be remembered by his children, Nancy (Tim) Bott, Kathy (Bob) Skorupski, and Jim (Sally) Miller; grandchildren Joe Bott, Betsy Bott, Jon (Laura) Bott, Lauren (Jon) Stucki, Alison Miller and Samantha Miller; and his six great-grandchildren.
We especially want to thank the Cobblestone staff at American House for their warm and compassionate care of our dad. We would also like to thank Kindred Hospice for their exceptional care of Duane in his final days.
