Brian Vilcans, age 42, peacefully passed away on March 16, 2020 after an extended illness. Born to Uldis and Venessa (Mitchell) Vilcans on February 11, 1978 in Grand Rapids, he was the youngest of their three children.

Brian's smart, kind soul was always evident to those who knew him best. His greatest joy was spending time with his two children, Nicholaus and Brianna. Brian enjoyed working with computers and gaming and especially liked following WWE wrestling.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, sisters Brenda (Jun) Pangilinan and Cynthia (Robert) Ruiter and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Brenda and Cynthia would like to thank everyone (and there were many) who did anything to help Brian, especially during the last couple of years. Special thanks go to the doctors and staff at St. Mary's and University of Michigan, the staff of Community Rebuilders, Jordan and the staff at Davita, and Hannah and the staff and residents at Oak Park who checked in to make sure all was well.

It was Brian's wish that things be kept as simple as possible. Cremation has taken place with his ashes to be spread in Florida at a later date. A celebration of life event will also be held at a later date to be announced.

Finally, a few words from Brian himself...
"I want to thank anyone and everyone who ever did anything, big or little, to help me. I personally tried to tell as many of you as possible, but if I missed you please know that I truly appreciated and was extremely grateful for what you did for me. My sincerest apologies to my doctors for all the times I was stubborn, and to those whom I might have hurt in any way. To my kids and my nieces and nephews, I love you, am proud of your accomplishments and will be with you always. And to my doctors at U-M... Go Green!"

RIP Brian. You were an amazing friend and I am grateful that the Lord allowed us to meet each other at Meijer (although I still say we knew each other before that) even more grateful that the lord re-united us when I was working at speedway. We may not have hung out very much, but our talks and our chats meant the world to me. Brian lived for his kids, and every decision he made he wanted to make sure was right by the kids. He may have made some mistakes, but he hasn't. I'll never forget you Brian. Untill our paths meet again RIP my buddy.

RIP Brian! You will be missed. I always try to look at the positive in every situation and event. In this specific event I’m excited that Brian can put a life of challenges behind him and reunite with his beloved parents he lost so long ago. You are in a better place now and until our paths cross again make sure to keep an eye on us and give us a sign that a better life awaits us all. Good night my friend for now...
